Mogadishu (HOL)—The Commander of the Somali Land Forces, General Dayah Abdi Abdulle, inspected Somali army forces stationed in the Afgoye district of the Lower Shabelle region on Wednesday following an escalation in al-Shabab attacks.
General Warsame Mohamed Diriye, the commander of the April 12th section, briefed General Dayah on the security situation in the district, where the Somali army is responsible for providing security for Mogadishu.
General Dayah encouraged the officers and soldiers to continue their efforts toward the country's liberation and instructed them to prepare for new operations in the coming weeks.
General Dayah, who has been on the front lines in recent days, addressed the increased attacks by al-Shabab against the Somali army in the southern part of the country.
Last Saturday, at least 17 people were killed and several others were wounded when the Islamist group al-Shabaab attacked the Busley military base in the Lower Shabelle region.
