Beledweyne (HOL) - A delegation led by the chief of the Hawadle
community, Ugas Yusuf Ugas Hassan Ugas Khalif, arrived in the Mahas
district in the Hiiraan region on Friday to conclude a consultation
conference.
Hundreds of people and traditional elders warmly welcomed the delegation to the district.
The clan chief’s visit is part of his peace and unity initiative aimed at uniting the Hawadle sub-clans and concluding the consultation meeting for the Ali Madaxweyne sub-clan, which has been ongoing in Mahas district for the past two days.
Senior government and regional state officials are also attending the meeting, and a press release is expected to be issued. The other sub-clans of the Hawadle community are particularly interested in the outcomes of the Ali Madaxweyne sub-clan meeting.
Ugas Yusuf was inaugurated as the 21st clan chief of the Hawadle clans in a grand ceremony held in the Dara Ugas neighbourhood, located on the outskirts of the Halgan district, in May 2024.
