Abdi Dahir Abdulle, known as "Falfaliirshe," was killed in Mogadishu's Daynile district during a robbery attempt.
Mogadishu (HOL) — A young man was fatally attacked in Mogadishu's Daynile district on Wednesday night, highlighting growing concerns over insecurity in the area. The victim, identified as Abdi Dahir Abdulle, known locally as "Falfaliirshe," was killed by an armed gang reportedly attempting to steal his mobile phone.
The attack occurred in the Miriqmiriq neighbourhood as Abdi, a construction transport worker, was heading home after finishing his day's work. Witnesses say he was targeted near his residence and offered no resistance when confronted.
Security forces arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and launched an investigation. However, no suspects have been identified, and authorities have not released further details. Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of progress in addressing the rising violence.
The killing is the second murder in Daynile this week. On Tuesday night, a motorcycle taxi driver was attacked and killed in the nearby Iga Dabagey neighbourhood. Both victims were young men working to support their families, underscoring the human toll of the city's persistent insecurity.
Daynile, part of Mogadishu's Banaadir region, has seen a troubling rise in armed robberies and attacks, leaving residents on edge. Calls are mounting for increased police patrols and more robust measures to combat crime in the district.
For residents, the lack of accountability and visible action from security forces underscores deeper issues within Mogadishu's law enforcement.
