Mogadishu (HOL) — Somalia’s burgeoning E-Sports scene takes a transformative leap as the E-Somali Sports Federation and Accord University announce the launch of the Accord E-Sports Club, a pioneering initiative set to empower youth and redefine digital innovation in the country.

“This partnership transcends gaming,” said Said Abdullahi Mohamud, President of the E-Somali Sports Federation. “We are creating pathways for youth empowerment by providing structured training, advanced equipment, and a foundation for a thriving E-Sports ecosystem in Somalia.”

E-Sports is emerging as a lifeline for Somali youth, offering a competitive platform and pathways to professional careers in a multi-billion-dollar global industry. “Through E-Sports, young people gain critical skills such as teamwork, strategic thinking, and problem-solving,” said Secretary-General Abdilahi Abdirashid Mohamed. “It’s also a chance for Somali talent to shine on international stages.”

“E-Sports is a bridge to holistic student development,” said Prof. Abdulkadir B. Mohamed, Vice-Chancellor of Accord University. “By integrating E-Sports and Chess into our curriculum, we enrich the student experience and foster well-rounded graduates.”

The announcement has sparked excitement among alumni and students, who see the initiative as transformative for Somalia’s youth. “This is a bridge to the global digital community, empowering Somali youth through innovation,” said Salma Abdi Hassan Omar of the Accord Alumni Association.

The E-Somali Sports Federation is driving the professionalization of E-Sports in Somalia. Through grassroots initiatives and international collaborations, the non-profit organization aims to empower youth and position Somalia as a global competitor in the digital age.
