Mogadishu (HOL) — Tensions between the Somali government and residents residing in the fire brigade headquarters in Mogadishu have escalated, with fears of a clash looming on Saturday as civilians refuse to comply with the government's order to vacate the land.
Last year, the Somali Police Command announced plans to utilize the land for public benefit, setting a deadline for residents to relocate by January 25th, which did not materialize. The deadline was extended to February 1st without effect. A third and purportedly final warning has been issued, with the deadline set for tomorrow, Saturday.
Speaking to local media, residents expressed adamant refusal to vacate the land, citing uncertainty about alternative housing options.
