Somali intelligence foils hand grenade attack in Mogadishu, two suspects arrested

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somalia's National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) apprehended two al-Shabab suspects carrying hand grenades during a security operation in Mogadishu on Sunday.

    A brief statement from NISA mentioned that the two men were attempting to throw the hand grenades but did not specify the target.

    "The government's security forces are on duty around the clock to ensure the city's security, with full cooperation from Somali citizens. At the time of the suspects' arrest by the military, they were found with explosives in hand, intending to cause harm to the public," stated the NISA report.

    The arrest of the two men comes a day after security forces in Baidoa, the capital of the Bay region, arrested a man who allegedly threw a hand grenade at a mosque in a neighborhood of Baidoa town on Saturday night.
