Teacher collapses, dies while invigilating exams at centre in Nairobi

Police are investigating an incident in which an examiner in the ongoing national examination died after complaining of chest pains in Nairobi.

The 53-year-old was an examiner at one of the schools in the city.

The management at the school reported the incident happened on Sunday morning.

She was an examiner of the ongoing KCSE exams.

The deceased had complained of chest pains and was rushed to Nairobi Women's Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

The cause of the death is yet to be known. A team of police visited the scene as part of the probe into the incident.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a suspected drowning incident at the Mathioya River.

Residents spotted the naked body of an unknown middle-aged man before alerting police.

According to police, the body had some facial bruises whose cause could not be immediately established.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and further investigations.

Police suspect murder in the incident.

Elsewhere, police detained a man they claimed had been behind a series of crime incidents in Nyamasaria, Kisumu.

The officers said they were on patrol in the area when they were tipped off that the suspect was hiding the uniforms.

The team recovered five mobile phones, a knife and the combat uniform.

Police said they are interrogating the suspect for more information on his activities in the area.

The team handling the matter said they had been informed the suspect was involved in violent crimes in the area.

In Makueni, police said they are holding a suspect who had five plastic pellets and one round of 9mm in Mukaa.

The suspect was arrested at a police roadblock in an operation on Saturday, November 18, and an imitated firearm with a magazine of five plastic pellets and one round of 9mm was found on him.

The suspect was later handed over to the anti-terror police unit for further profiling.

Police said he was a Somali national aged 24. His mission is yet to be known.

The vehicle he was using was also detained.
