Somaliland Navy recover one body following deadly beach incident, search ongoing for second victim

    Hargeisa (HOL) - Two young men died while swimming at Berbera beach on Saturday. Somaliland Navy Forces managed to recover one body while the search for the other was still active.

    According to eyewitness reports, the victims were part of a youth football team from Gabilay. They had just returned from playing a match against teams from Buro'a in Burco.

    One witness stated that more than a dozen players were caught in the rough waters, with most being rescued, but two ultimately succumbed to the sea's fierce currents.

    The waters off the coast of Berbera have been increasingly turbulent lately, posing a severe risk to those enjoying their holidays. Somaliland officials have yet to comment on the tragic incident, and the ages of the victims remain undisclosed.
