Mogadishu (HOL) - Two members of the Somali Police Force, Abdi Shakur Ahmed Mohamud and Abdi Jamal Abdullahi, were executed by a firing squad in Mogadishu on Monday morning after being convicted of murder.
Abdishakur was found guilty of killing Hassan Mohamed Shire, another member of the police force, while Abdi Jamal Abdullahi Haile was convicted of robbing and murdering Abdihakin Mohamud Khalif.
Somalia's military court has increased the number of executions in recent months, with dozens carried out since the start of the year. Most of those executed have been government security officers or Al-Shabaab fighters who were found guilty of capital offences by a military tribunal. The executions have been carried out swiftly, with some taking place within a matter of weeks.
