MOGADISHU (HOL) - The U.S has announced a $5 million bounty on information leading to the arrest of a former Californian resident who is now a senior official with Al-Shabaab militant group.
According to the announcement by the State Department, Jehad Serwan Mostafa, alias Ahmed Gurey is wanted for his role in Al-Shabaab.
Gurey graduated a San Diego and later moved to Somalia in2005 where he joined Al-Shabaab three years later.
“Mostafa has held sensitive positions, including as a military trainer in the group’s training camps, leading foreign fighters, working in the media wing of the group, working as a mediator between Al-Shabaab and other terrorist organizations as well as leading a terrorist attack team,” the State Department said.
The Al-Shabaab operative was charged in a Southern California court with conspiracy to aid Al-Shabaab.
