Newly appointed federal minister resigns hours after cabinet's unveiling

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somalia's newly appointed deputy minister of planning, Mohamed Abdukhadir Ali, resigned hours after Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre announced the long-waited 75-member Cabinet in Mogadishu on Tuesday.

    In a press conference in Mogadishu, Mohamed Abdiqadir said his resignation followed consultations with the community he represents.

    The 75-member Council of Ministers comprises 26 cabinet ministers, 25 deputies, and 24 state ministers.

    This official will be the first member of the new ministers to submit his resignation before the parliament approves the Council of Ministers.
