Mogadishu (HOL) - The UN and other international partners in Somalia have called on the country’s leadership to remain focused on the ongoing electoral talks despite the removal of the country’s prime minister from office.
A joint statement undersigned by over ten embassies and international organizations based in the country called for commitments from the Federal Government and the Federal Member States to ensure the talks go on uninterrupted.
“The international partners expect the Federal and State leaders to honour the agreements reached on 22 July in Dhusamareb and the timelines for follow-up meetings bringing together the Federal Government, Federal Member States, the Federal Parliament leadership, political parties and civil society representatives,” the statement read in part.
