Mogadishu Mayor Omar Mohamud today laid the foundation stone for the construction of Shibis district headquarters.
The newly appointed mayor said the construction of an office block for the district administration was part of his plan to bring services close to the people and promote local governance.
“In order to bring the administration of our city close to the people, we are committed to establishing public institutions to serve the public,” the mayor said.
The mayor urged the residents of Mogadishu to join hands and work together with the government in rebuilding the nation.
Mohamud who also doubles as the Governor of Banaadir Region took office this month following the death of his predecessor Abdirahman Yarisow early this month in a bomb attack.
