Multicultural nonprofit thanks community with international pancake feed

Grand Island's Multicultural Coalition gave people a new taste of a popular breakfast staple as a way to say thank you for the community's support.

Different types of flapjack recipes were served on Sunday at the Coalition' second annual international pancake feed.

It's both a way to thank those who donated during last Thursday's Go Big GIVE event, but also was open to the public for a small donation.

Organizers told NTV News they expected 50 people to attend, but about halfway through they had already counted over 200.

"We want fellowship and community, that's what we want for Grand Island and this is just one event that shows it's possible in the Grand island community," said Audrey Lutz, executive director of the Multicultural Coalition. "It's important because one of the steps in becoming a more inclusive community is just coming together and having opportunities around food, around music for that fellowship."

Recipes from Sunday's event came from several countries including Somalia, Mexico, Indonesia and the U.S.
