MAKKAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Tuesday vowed to hit back with an “iron fist” religious extremists who target the country’s youth, in a speech marking the end of Ramadan.

“The community should realize that they are partners with the state in its efforts in combating this deviant thought,” said the king, adding: “In so doing, we are guided by the teachings of our Islamic religion, which protects blood and money, sensing our location in the heart of the Islamic world, and our honor to serve Islam, siding with Muslims in all parts of the globe and defending their legitimate causes, notably the Palestinian cause.”  The king’s address was read out by Adel Al-Toraifi, minister of culture and information. The king called on Muslims to be optimistic and hopeful for a promising future, and thanked Allah for “bestowing on us abundant seen and unseen graces.”

The king thanked Allah for “blessing us with Eid Al-Fitr, which is a manifestation of solidarity and sympathy among the sons of the Islamic nation and expression of unity and words, no matter their places and languages.”

The king prayed to Allah “to complete our joy with the removal of division besetting the Islamic nation, its hardships and pains.” He said: “What the Islamic world is currently witnessing in the form of division and dissension invites us to make every effort to unite ranks and work together to solve the problems of the Islamic nation and support its causes.”
