Friday, February 26, 2016 (HOL)-A heavy explosion which was heard in most parts of Mogadishu went off. Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion rocked Beerta Nabadda (the Peace Garden) where residents of Mogadishu tour.
Beerta Nabadda is close to the old parliament of Somalia in Boondheere District. No sooner had the explosion gone off than exchange of gunfire started. So far, the casualty figures of this explosion are not known. On the other hand, no one has yet claimed to have masterminded this explosion which is the first one to go off at night time since this year has started.
Many Somalis tour this garden on Thursdays and Fridays. This explosion came at a time when many people were at the garden.
Unconfirmed reports say there were two explosions in Mogadishu today, one at SYL Hotel which is near the first checkpoint of the state house.
