Hiran elders oppose government-appointed administration

Elders from Somalia's Hiran region oppose the regional administration appointed by the Somali federal government because they say it does not reflect the will of the region's residents, Somalia's RBC Radio reported Tuesday (April 9th).
Local intellectual Jama Haji Ali called on the government to let Hiran residents vote for regional leaders rather than appoint them from Mogadishu.
Their statement follows federally appointed regional governor Abdi Farah Laqanyo's arrival on Sunday in the regional capital Beledweyne.
