Delegates to the Jubbaland state formation
conference in Kismayo voted unanimously on Tuesday (April 2nd) to ratify
the transitional charter for the new regional administration, Somalia's
Dhanaan Online reported.
Over 870 members voted, allowing subsequent endorsement of the state charter and elections of the Jubbaland political head.
In addition, 44 lawmakers from the Somali parliament travelled to
Kismayo on Wednesday, Somalia's RBC Radio reported. The lawmakers will
meet with local leaders in order to show their support for the Jubbaland
state formation process, which the Somali government has opposed due to
lack of federal involvement.
