Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan reaffirmed Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity during a phone call Monday, officials said.
The two ministers rejected any actions that could undermine Somalia’s security and stability.
In a statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
“His Royal Highness reiterated the Kingdom’s unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and political independence,” the ministry said.
The ministry said both sides also emphasized the importance of safeguarding international maritime security and freedom of navigation.
The call comes as Somalia continues to seek regional and international support for its sovereignty amid heightened diplomatic and security tensions in the Horn of Africa and Red Sea region.
