Hargeisa (HOL) — Somaliland has strongly condemned Iranian attacks on Gulf and Middle Eastern countries, calling them acts of aggression that threaten regional peace and stability.
In an official statement posted on its Foreign Ministry’s X account, Somaliland said it stands in full solidarity with the targeted states and rejects what it termed “unprovoked aggression.”
The government said it “condemns in the strongest terms” Iranian strikes targeting the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
The statement follows Iran’s launch of retaliatory missile and drone attacks in response to U.S. and Israeli airstrikes. According to regional media reports, several countries hosting U.S. forces have raised their security alert levels, with some stating that their air defense systems intercepted incoming missiles or drones.
Countries reportedly affected include Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Syria. Independent verification of all reported strikes and their impact remains limited.
Israel formally recognized Somaliland in December 2025, becoming the first country to do so since the territory declared independence from Somalia in 1991. The move has sparked diplomatic tension across the Horn of Africa and the wider region.
