Mogadishu (HOL) — Somalia's Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) on Thursday announced 12 districts in Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions where House of Representatives and local council elections will be held in Hirshabelle State.
The commission designated six districts in Hiiraan region: Beledweyne, Jalalaqsi, Bulo Burde, Matabaan, Jawiil and Farlibaax.
The commission called for the designation and announcement of polling stations before the next stages of the electoral process.
Last week, the commission postponed Hirshabelle’s House of Representatives and local council elections, which had been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20.
The commission said the delay was temporary and necessary to complete key preparations for the vote.
The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission said it would announce a revised election timetable and new polling date within two weeks.
