Garowe (HOL) — Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has announced a sweeping reshuffle of his cabinet, regional governors and senior government officials, marking his first major government overhaul in more than two years.
The decree, issued Tuesday by the Puntland Presidency, introduced a 43-member cabinet overseeing key portfolios such as justice, interior, health, planning, information and fisheries. The reshuffle is widely seen as an effort to strengthen governance and recalibrate the administration’s political direction amid evolving regional dynamics.

Significantly, the new lineup includes figures from the Sool region who previously served in the SSC-Khaatumo administration, signaling a move toward broader political inclusion. Among them is former SSC-Khaatumo Information Minister Najib Barkhadle, appointed as a state minister in the Ministry of Information and Communications.
