Riyadh (HOL) — Somalia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to develop a framework for cooperation on regulating artificial intelligence (AI) and space technology.
The agreement was signed in Riyadh by Mustafa Yasin Sheikh, Director General of Somalia’s National Communications Authority (NCA), and Haitham Al-Ohaly, Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), during the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-25).
The GSR-25, co-hosted by the International Telecommunication Union and Saudi Arabia’s CST, convened over 190 nations at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre to address global digital challenges, including bridging the divide that still leaves 2.6 billion people without internet access.
The Somalia–Saudi partnership signals a joint effort to strengthen innovation while ensuring responsible oversight in emerging communication sectors.
