Garowe (HOL) — Puntland police have arrested two suspects in
connection with the killing of two people in Garowe on Saturday night.
In a statement released Sunday, the Puntland Police Command
said the arrests were made following a joint investigation by the Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) and Nugaal regional police. Authorities said
preliminary findings linked the two detained individuals to the shooting, and
they are currently in custody.
“Investigations are ongoing, and further details will be
made public once the full inquiry is complete,” the statement read.
The victims, a hotel security guard and his visiting
relative, were fatally shot in the head and back by unidentified assailants who
fled the scene. The incident occurred near key government buildings, including
the Nugaal Regional Court and Puntland’s administrative offices.
Relatives of the victims have refused to bury the bodies,
demanding justice and full accountability from Puntland authorities.
No group has claimed responsibility for the killings.
However, the incident comes as Puntland security forces continue intensified
operations against ISIS militants in the Bari region, raising concerns about
broader security threats spreading to other parts of the state.
