Mogadishu (HOL) – Somali National Army (SNA) forces, in
collaboration with local Macawisley militia fighters, killed two senior
Al-Shabaab leaders and two of their bodyguards in a planned military operation
in the Guulane area of the Middle Shabelle region, military sources confirmed
on Friday.
The slain leaders were identified as Ali Abuukar Mohamed
Saaqle, commonly known as Ali Habad, and Mohamed Addow Isse. Both were
described as high-ranking operatives responsible for orchestrating several
attacks in the region.
According to Ahmed Dhagey Hurshow, the Macawisley commander
in Guulane, the operation was executed successfully and achieved its primary
objective.
“These individuals were prominent figures who played a key
role in planning and executing Al-Shabaab’s operations in Middle Shabelle.
Today, we ended their plot in a blessed and successful operation,” said
Commander Ahmed Dhagey.
The commander added that targeted operations against the
leadership of Al-Shabaab will continue across Middle Shabelle until the group
is fully eradicated from the region.
The Federal Government of Somalia and allied forces have
intensified their offensive against Al-Shabaab in recent months, focusing on
dismantling the group’s command structure and disrupting its operational
capacity in key regions.
