Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met
Monday with Somali American politician Samakab Hussein, a member of the
Minnesota House of Representatives, at the Prime Minister’s Office in
Mogadishu.
Prime Minister Barre thanked Rep. Hussein for visiting his
country of origin and praised the broader Somali diaspora for their vital
contributions to development in their host countries, particularly in business,
politics, and community advancement.
“The Somali diaspora has played a significant role in the
development of the countries they live in—Rep. Hussein is a clear example of
that success,” Barre said. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to
strengthening relations with Somali communities abroad and encouraging their
involvement in Somalia’s progress.
Rep. Samakab Hussein, a member of the Minnesota
Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), represents District 65A, which includes
