Somali President welcomes credentials of eight new Ambassadors in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (HOL) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the credentials of eight newly appointed ambassadors during a Thursday ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu, marking another step in Somalia’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships. 

The ambassadors who presented their credentials include: 

  • Abdirahman Khalil Ahmed from Sudan 
  • Rowaid Adil Mohamed from Palestine 
  • Morakot Janemathukorn from Thailand 
  • Bernard Yohana Kibesse from Tanzania 
  • Ana Filomena da Costa Rocha from Portugal 
  • Martin K. Ngoga from Rwanda 
  • Mahi Boumediene from Algeria 
  • Matsuura Hiroshi from Japan

In his remarks, President Mohamud emphasized Somalia’s dedication to enhancing diplomatic, economic, development, and security cooperation with nations worldwide. He highlighted the significance of building stronger ties to promote mutual growth across various sectors. 

“Welcoming these distinguished ambassadors marks a profound moment for Somalia. It affirms our shared dedication to increasing partnerships that will drive progress and prosperity for our nations,” President Mohamud said. 

The newly appointed ambassadors expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. They pledged to collaborate closely with Somalia on diplomacy, trade, security, and cultural exchange initiatives. 

According to the Somali government, the arrival of the new ambassadors could have broader regional implications, potentially leading to joint efforts in collective security, economic development corridors, and humanitarian projects. 

“Enhancing security measures through collaborative initiatives is a priority, fostering peace and stability within the region,” the government statement noted. It further emphasized the role of cultural exchanges in building people-to-people connections, mutual respect, and shared appreciation for different traditions. 

The statement added that another focus of the partnership is advancing sustainable development through joint projects in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.

The Somali federal government reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to peace and development on the international stage. The accreditation of these ambassadors is expected to result in high-level delegations and planned bilateral visits to solidify specific collaboration projects.
