Hargeisa (HOL) — A Somaliland traffic police officer, Buuh Ismaeil Mirre, was fatally shot on Tuesday afternoon in Gabiley district while returning home from a university exam.
Mirre, who had attended Tima Adde University earlier that day, was attacked while walking home. The perpetrators fled the scene immediately after the shooting, according to the residents.
A close friend, Hakin Furre, disclosed on social media that Mirre had mentioned a confrontation with a rickshaw operator earlier in the day. "He told a student he wanted to arrest the operator but prioritized the exam due to time constraints," Furre wrote.
Gabiley Regional Police have yet to release further details but assured the public they are actively searching for the suspect.
