Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Police Force Commissioner Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi chaired a high-level security meeting in Mogadishu on Thursday, outlining a renewed commitment to combat insurgent threats and implement the country’s newly adopted security development plan.
The meeting brought together senior police officials to conduct a comprehensive review of Somalia’s current security environment and to assess the preparedness of law enforcement agencies nationwide. Brig. Gen. Abdullahi emphasized the urgency of maintaining high vigilance as extremist groups continue to pose persistent threats to public safety and state institutions.
A central focus of the meeting was the Somali Police Force’s role in ensuring a secure environment ahead of the upcoming one-person, one-vote elections—an essential milestone in Somalia’s journey toward democratic governance.
The Commissioner also called on citizens to actively engage in efforts to enhance security by reporting suspicious behavior, reaffirming that national safety is a shared responsibility between the public and security institutions.
Thursday’s meeting signals a renewed push by the Somali Police Force to strengthen coordination, expand operational capacity, and reinforce public confidence ahead of key political and security transitions. It reflects the government’s broader strategy to solidify gains in stabilization, governance, and rule of law in the face of ongoing security challenges.
