Las Anod (HOL — Intense clashes between Somaliland forces and SSC-Khatumo fighters in Erigavo town have continued for a second day, with residents reporting heavy casualties on both sides.
The fighting erupted after SSC-Khatumo forces reportedly entered the city recently, accompanied by an influx of weapons. Although no official casualty figures have been released, both sides are believed to have sustained significant losses.
SSC-Khatumo leaders accused Somaliland forces of targeting the city's residents, stating they were defending the area against the Somaliland army. In response, Somaliland police have urged the public to avoid the conflict zones and imposed a curfew in Erigavo to curb further violence.
The renewed violence has caused some residents to flee the city, seeking safety in surrounding areas. Tensions remain high as SSC-Khatumo fighters aim to assert control over parts of the city, while Somaliland authorities are resolute in maintaining their hold on the region.
