MOGADISHU (HOL) - The global community has shown an outpouring of praise for
Puntland, a member of the Somali Federal Government, ahead of its local council
elections slated for May 25th. Their commendation recognizes the steadfast
dedication of Puntland's citizens in fulfilling their democratic aspirations.
In a joint statement issued today, Somalia’s international partners lauds the work
of the Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC). They have recognized
the commission's tireless endeavors in overcoming numerous challenges in the
organization and execution of this historic direct election - a significant
milestone in Puntland's democratic journey.
The international community further used this platform to encourage all
stakeholders involved in the election process to promote and maintain peace.
They stressed the need for respectful dialogue and adherence to legal
