Ibrahim Siblings' Golf Success Captured in "Home Course Advantage" Short Film

Minneapolis (HOL) - Hailing from Culver City, California, the Ibrahim family's journey to the United States began with Abdirashid Ibrahim's dream of a better life for his loved ones. Fueled by hope, Rashid found solace in golf upon arriving in the US.
Upon his arrival in the United States, Abdirashid Ibrahim's desire for a better life for his family led him to seek out new opportunities and experiences. His introduction to golf came when he caught a glimpse of Tiger Woods on television, immediately sparking his curiosity about the sport. Intrigued, Abdirashid spent six months thoroughly researching golf, learning its rules and techniques. He became captivated by the sport's unique blend of physical and mental challenges and the potential it held for fostering unity and teamwork within his family. With a newfound passion for golf, Abdirashid promised himself that if he ever had children, he would teach them the game, setting the foundation for the family's remarkable journey.
True to his word, Abdirashid introduced golf to his children by setting up a practice net at home and gathering used golf balls and tees for their training.
It wasn't until Abdirashid's two eldest children, Mahamed and Salma, started excelling on Culver City High School's golf course that their family's dream began to materialize. Both siblings earned All-League honours, with Salma making history as the first girl on the All-Bay League boys team at CCHS.

The Ibrahim family consists of six children, aged 3 to 17, all being trained in golf by their devoted father, Abdirashid. He discovered that golf could unite his children, who have even damaged their apartment practicing the sport.
Abdirashid Ibrahim's American dream is taking shape as his family shares a love for golf. The children say golf has taught them discipline and focus, fostering camaraderie and teamwork.

Although golf is expensive, Abdirashid, an Uber driver, and his wife make sacrifices to keep their children in the sport, aiming for college scholarships to further their education and careers. They have also received support from Virginia, Abdiashid's former coworker, who helps with equipment and tournament fees, and David Heinen, a renowned golf coach, who offers guidance.
Recently, the Ibrahims received a surprise visit from pro golfer Michelle Wie, who gifted them equipment from TaylorMade, Nike, and Youth on Course, including new golf clubs, gear, and a lifetime membership. This support will help the family continue their golf journey and pursuit of the American dream.
