Gunmen shoot dead former parliamentary candidate in Mogadishu

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Unidentified gunmen in Mogadishu shot dead a politician in the Wadajir district on Tuesday morning.

    Mohamed Hussein Sabriye 'Guleyste' was killed by men armed with pistols, who quickly escaped without being apprehended.

    Somali police arrived on the scene shortly after the murder and told reporters they had launched an investigation.

    No group has claimed responsibility for the murder, and the police do not have any immediate leads.

    Sabriye was a candidate for seat HOP33, representing the Hirshabelle region in Somalia's Lower House of Parliament. Yusuf Ibrahim Afrah ' Kabale eventually won the seat'.
