Puntland elder shot dead in Galkayo

Galkayo (HOL) - Gunmen in Galkyao killed a Puntland on Thursday evening.
Abdiqani Hassan Waloore was shot dead by the gunmen as he was leaving a local mosque after evening prayers.
The well-known elder who worked on peace initiatives in Galkayo joins the growing list of elders and peacekeepers killed in Galkayo since 2008.
Abdiqani's father, Hassan Waloore, met a similar fate in August 2011 when he was also gunned down in Galkayo.
Abdiqani Waloore's murder is the first high-profile killing in Galkayo since Puntland authorities cracked down on an Al-Shabaab assassin network last year.
Puntland's security forces have not publicly commented on the latest killing, which comes as the militant insurgency group Al-Shabaab warned that they would attack Puntland with explosives.
