Security forces detonated explosive-laden rickshaw in Mogadishu

    Mogadishu (HOL) - A rickshaw packed with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was detonated by security forces in Mogadishu’s Hodan district on Friday afternoon.

    Eyewitnesses say that the rickshaw exploded near the popular Fatxi restaurant on Teleh road.

    However, the security officials told state-owned Radio Mogadishu that the security forces intercepted and exploded the rickshaw and added that the operator of the rickshaw, who suffered minor injuries, was also arrested. No one else was injured or killed in the blast.

    No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

    On Thursday, Somali police chief Major General Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijaar chaired a security meeting at the Somali Police Force Headquarters in Mogadishu, which was attended by all the senior leadership.

    The meeting discussed evaluating the security operations in the capital of Mogadishu.
