MOGADISHU ( HOL) - Three officials from the EU Mission in Somalia have contracted COVID-19, the Mission has said noting those who came into contact with the three have been put under quarantine.

EU Ambassador to Somalia Nicolas Berlanga confirmed in a tweet Saturday that three members of one of its mission had tested positive for the disease.

“The EU informs that 3 members of one of the EU missions in Somalia tested positive for COVID-19. The patients have been isolated under medical supervision and those with whom they had contact are also in quarantine,” Berlanga said in a tweet.

The ambassador did not however mention the specific missions but noted the three had not come into contact with the public.

“In coordination with Somali Security Institutions, for several weeks all advising, mentoring and training activities have been conducted remotely”. In sum, no physical or contact with public for weeks,” the ambassador added.
