Mogadishu (HOL) - A military court sentenced a senior naval officer to death on Monday for the shooting death of his superior.
Colonel Abdinasir Hosh was convicted of killing General Saed Adan Marino at the seaport last month following a heated argument. Witnesses said at Hosh pulled out his service pistol and fired at the general several times, hitting him in the head.
In a statement, the chairperson of Somali Military court, Col. Hassan Ali Nur Shote said Hosh has intentionally murdered General Marino following a dispute.
" After listening to the hearing case of Abdirahman Hosh, the court finds him guilty of killing Major General Saed Adan Yussuf Marino. The court moves to strip Abdinasir Hosh from his military rank and sentence him to death," statement of the court reads in part.
The court said the defendant can appeal the verdict.
