Somali Information Minister, Abdirahman Omar Yariisow said the Mogadishu Conference will be a follow up from the May 2017 London Conference on Somalia.

"Somalia security Conference which will take place on 4th December is vital for the country's current situation. The meeting will discuss several issues including the implementation of the outcome of London Conference, stepping up the fight against Al Shabaab," said Yariisow.

AMISOM Force Commander, Lt. Osman Noor Soubagleh said, the leaders will focus on the strategic plans to annihilate Al-Shabaab fighters.

"The meeting will discuss several issues with the major agendas being national security, the ongoing operation against Al Shabaab and army integration," Soubagleh told BBC Somali Service in an interview.

In Mid-October, Somali leaders agreed to a joint counteroffensive against Al-Shabaab militants which controls remote areas in Southern and central Somalia.
