The main focus of the summit was to discuss Gender Based Interventions on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) as the federal government aims to create a blueprint for counter-radicalization strategies.

Madam Christine Alalo, the Deputy Police Commissioner of AMISOM said that Somali women are key in the effort to fight Islamic radicalization.

“Women can use their vital position in their homes and their communities to fight extremism and propaganda to educate their children about the religion of peace, denounce weapon catches, and enrol in the police or the military intelligence collection apparatus and thus play an important part in soft and hard efforts to counter- terrorism” said Ms. Alalo.
