A 16 year-old Muslim student’s death after falling off a roof is being investigated by police after friends and family have alleged the student was pushed off the roof and the victim of a hate crime.
Warsame was a junior at Rainier Beach High School in the Running Start program, taking courses withSeattle Central’s college transfer program. The King County Medical Examiner’s office said Tuesday afternoon that an autopsy had been completed, but that the cause and manner of death were still pending further investigation. In a statement released Tuesday, Seattle Police said its investigation was ongoing and did not specify if detectives suspected foul play.
CHS has received many messages about Warsame’s death and concerns about the investigation.
“I’m so happy about the people who’ve brought attention to this, ” said about the protests and events surrounding her brother’s death. “I hope they give us details”.
“I want this case to be more on the facts, and not about what someone believes”, Dimbil said.
Police ask anyone with information on the case to call investigators at 206-233-5000. He urged her and her family to share all of their grievances and concerns during their meeting with the Seattle Police Department tonight, according to Ikram Warsame. Though we don’t know what exactly happened to Hamza, recent incidents have taught us that the only way to beat bigotry is to join together as a community and demand justice.
