President-elect Kenyatta emphasized that the challenges facing the country including job creation for the youth can only be tackled effectively when the country continues enjoying stability.
The President-elect, therefore, appealed to all Kenyans to continue praying for peace and national cohesion.
He was speaking onSunday during a thanks giving service at the Kisima cha Neema church in the Coastal city of Mombasa.
“Am happy to join you once again today for prayers to thank God for his blessings and for the peace he has given us. Am grateful for your prayers and I have come to fulfill the promise I made during the campaigns that I will be back to give thanks to God when I emerge victorious,” said President-elect Kenyatta.
He once again thanked all Christians and Kenyans in general for praying and maintaining peace before, during and after elections.
In her sermon which was based on 1 Samuel 16:1-13, Bishop Mary Kagendo Francis of the Kisima cha Neema Church said leaders are chosen by God.
The Bishop therefore called for the understanding that though people have preferences, it is God who ultimately appoints and anoints individuals to positions of leadership.
She urged wananchi to learn to respect each other and not fight over issues such as elections but instead accept the will of God in whatever they do.
The Bishop also urged Kenyans to shun violence, saying the vice is not only ungodly but also destructive.
Bishop Kagendo, however, assured the faithful and Kenyans in general that God is in control and everything will go well according to His plans.
Also present were the Nairobi Senator-elect Mike Mbuvi Sonko and Coast Provincial Commissioner Samuel Kilele, among others.
