Thieves were systematically stealing weapons from army storage areas
inside the Somali presidential palace, sources told the Shabelle Media
Network.
Shabelle said security guards discovered that a large number of
weapons were missing from the palace's storage areas Saturday night.
The smuggling appears to have been going on for some time.
A captain has been detained following the discovery, Shabelle said.
Shabelle said President Hassan Sheik Mohamud visited the area where the weapons were stored.
Officials are not releasing any information, but said they are completing an investigation.
