Djibouti sends extra soldiers to Somalia

Djiboutian soldiers under the African union peacekeeping mission are expected to arrive in the Somali capital Mogadishu as Djiboutian president, H.E. Isma’il Omar Gelle announced 27th June this month during the celebration of 35th anniversary of their country’s independent day, the state media said.

This is the second section of Djiboutian forces that are part of the African union peacekeeping forces sent to Somali and the former battalion was allocated in Hiiraan region central Somalia where they are continuing their mission.

Djibouti distributed over than 800 soldiers into the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to help the Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) in fight against Al Qaeda-linked Al- shabab insurgents.
