The woman accused of hijacking a plane over the South Island earlier this year had to be wheeled into the Christchurch District court on Wednesday morning.
Thirty-four-year-old Asha Ali Abdille, originally from Somalia, is accused of trying to hijack an Air New Zealand flight from Blenheim to Christchurch on February 11.
Abdille allegedly pulled a knife on two pilots and made a bomb threat.
The attack left one pilot with a cut to his hand and sparked terror in the sky and chaos on the ground at Christchurch Airport as it moved to close during peak hour flight traffic.
The court was told Abdille became sick in the past few days and she was wheeled into court and guarded by three police officers.
Abdille did not enter a plea.
She was remanded in custody until June 5 for a pre-depositions hearing.
