A Somali shopkeeper was wounded by fellow countrymen who robbed him at his home in Humansdorp after he put them up there for the night, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.

The two men robbed Khalif Dahir, 24, of R8 500 in cash and air time vouchers valued at R960 on Thursday, after spending the night at his home, said Superintendent Priscilla Naidu.

"While fleeing, one of the suspects fired a shot from outside hitting Dahir in the neck," she said. Dahir was in a stable condition in Livingstone hospital.

"The [identity] of the suspects are known to the police and an arrest is imminent," said Naidu.
